Seth Capper, Kendall Maddox and Lorraine Maddox attended the 2015 American Academy of Estate Planning Attorneys’ Spring Conference at the Seelbach Hotel in Louisville, Kentucky, April 23rd through 26th. Present at the conference were estate planning attorneys from across the country, as well as professionals in related fields.

Conference-scaled

Kendall and Seth spent four days at the Conference listening to various speakers discuss the latest issues in estate, Medicaid and VA planning. As a senior member of the Academy, Kendall also participated in several small Academy meetings.  Having practiced as an estate planning attorney for twenty years, Kendall is well known in the estate planning community, especially among other Academy attorneys.  While at the Conference, he was able to share his experiences with longtime friends and colleagues and mentor less experienced attorneys on ways to manage and grow a successful practice.

Attendees were treated to a private reception at Churchill Downs on the first night of “Derby Week,” a weeklong series of events and races leading up to the Kentucky Derby.  Seth walked away with $25, after correctly guessing the winner in two consecutive races!  Kendall did not fare quite as well.  Overall, the Conference was a very beneficial experience, and we look forward to attending future Academy events.
